Who I am
I’ve been sailing since I was thirteen, at the beginning at the helm of a Penguin, the 1st Suduka, then a Snipe, and from there I continued training and developing in various classes such as Cariocas, Guanabaras, and Soling. In this last class I participated in the World Cup in Quiberon - France in 1972. Afterwards I joined the crew of the legendary Procelária, of Fernando Pimentel Duarte, to run the Admiral’s Cup. Two Fastnet Races, a B.Aires-Rio and three Santos-Rio runs figure in these voyages of yesteryear. Finally, tired of running regattas, in the 1970s, I bought a 27” Dourado, called Pacato, in which I entertained myself sailing between Angra and Buzios until my children were born and other priorities arose. Now that they are grown, my son is my partner in the Sophos, a Vega 23. Sailing instructor, master amateur and a active sailor in the Snipe class, where I usually run in the Master and Mixed categories. Currently Captain of Fleet 368 – Baia de Guanabara.
